§ 54-5. Unusual circumstances.

  • The town shall charge, in unusual situations, (including, but not limited to, bridge crossings, canal crossings, highway bores) the actual and complete costs of installing a water tap requested by a potential user, whether the work is performed by the town or contracted. Said charge shall include, but not be limited to, tapping the existing main, running the service lateral to an agreed-upon location, any required boring/casing of an existing structure, setting the water meter, box, backflow device and related appurtenances, the costs of acquiring the necessary easements/permits, and/or engineering/legal fees, and administrative charges of up to five percent that may be required to implement the service a user has requested. All such charges incurred shall be the responsibility of the user, who shall deposit the estimated costs (as determined by the town) in advance of the work.
