§ 10-2. Certificates of occupancy.

  • Before any new building or other structure or any part thereof is occupied or put to any use, a certificate of occupancy shall be obtained from the building inspector of the town. Before issuing any such certificate, the building inspector shall make a final inspection and shall determine that the completed work complies with all applicable state, county and town laws and ordinances, with the terms of the building or other permit and with the approved plans and specifications. A temporary certificate of occupancy may be issued permitting occupancy or use of specified portions of the building or other structure that the building inspector finds may safely be occupied or used prior to final completion of the entire building or structure.
