§ 74-316. Recreational zones sign regulations.

  • (a)

    The only signs permitted within zones Rec-1, Rec-2, and Rec-3, or public beach accesses of the town shall be wall signs, hanging signs, ground, or window signs.

    (b)

    No more than two signs per main entrance from a public street shall be permitted. No permitted sign shall exceed eight square feet in area. No fee shall be charged for the issuance of any permit for erection of a sign in a recreational zone. Applications for such signs shall be submitted to the Town's Building Inspector prior to installation.

    (c)

    State-installed and state-designed off-premises signs for properties in zones Rec-1 and Rec-3 and beach accesses and associated parking are permissible on NCDOT rights of way as long as they conform to applicable state size limits and standards.

    (d)

    Other signs may be located in the Rec-1, Rec-2, and Rec-3 zoning districts as allowable under Sections 74-221 and 74-222.
