§ 54-2. Water system use.

  • (a)

    Water system availability charges within the town's water system are mandatory for improved properties. Each user shall pay the minimum availability charge whether water is purchased or not, and shall pay both the availability charge and consumption use if water is voluntarily purchased from the town's system.

    (b)

    Connection of improved properties within the Town of Pine Knoll Shores to the town's municipal water system is mandatory; however, in order to avoid hardship on a property owner or occupant, the town manager, or his designee, may grant a connection waiver. In case of a connection waiver, the owner or occupant of the property shall pay to the town a monthly availability charge which charge shall be the monthly base fee for the classification of improvements on the property and the minimum line size that would be charged if the owner's or occupant's property was connected to the town's water system.

    Water availability fees shall be placed in a separate capital reserve fund for the purpose of funding capital improvements to the water system.
